MAY NEWS

5 May 2016 by Jay Kelly

Dear Club Members

Four months in and the club is in great shape! We have been lucky with conditions except for our May round, but a little rain is good for the soul.

The committee has been working very hard behind the scenes to ensure the club is viable and financial, while also achieving great status among our rival clubs on the coast with our successful running of the inaugural Sunny Coast Cup.

The club rounds have been run with a great turn out and I would like to welcome all our new members. It’s been great to see new members blend right in and offer help when its needed. There has been a great vibe on comp days and it’s great to part of this small but strong surfing community.

July 3rd-7th will be our next big competition and we were honoured to be asked to host the University Games. Universities from all over Australia will be entering a surf team that will be competing over three days with one day in reserve at Mudjimba Beach. We will need volunteers for the three days so please email the Secretary@mudjimbaboardriders.com.au if you are available on those dates.

The Junior Development program I started last year with the intention of giving young club members some basic core development, balance and strengthening exercises will be set up again this year at the Ocean Performance Centre.

The program will run for two twelve week blocks at $60/block/surfer and consists of:

Dividing members into different groups;
The 8-12 year olds on a Wednesday 4-5pm
The competitive yet not so elite on the Mon or Tues 4-5pm
The very elite on a Thursday 4-5pm. This will be serious training and for those only competing on a regular basis.

1 x Mental Prep & 1 x Nutrition Seminars
Two and a half hour seminars educating competitors on how to compete at their best no matter what situation they are in. Also how to fuel their body for best results. We are also happy for parents to attend this seminar.

We will also be naming a Team with reserves that will be training with the OPC that consists of:

4 x Surf Coaching with two surf coaches at each session
1 x Half day video analysis 8-12pm
2 x On beach surf coaching sessions
1 x Half day video analysis or comp prep strategy session 8-12pm

Please email the Secretary@mudjimbaboardriders.com.au your name, age and what day you want to train asap as we are hoping to start next week!

The Junior development program has been sponsored by Northshore Realty, Jay Pashley has been a long time contributor to the club and this year he has really stepped up his sponsorship and has donated the club with enough funds to help run this program. With the $60 payment by each surfer for each block and Northshore Realty’s sponsorship, the program will run successfully and I hope the grommets get a lot out of it and the club can one day see a new generation of fit dedicated surfers reaching their full potential. There will be no tolerance for misbehaving at the training sessions with one warning and if you play up again you’re out policy.

We will also be doing another shirt run so if you or any of your friends or families want a shirt please email the Secretary@mudjimbaboardriders.com.au your shirt size asap.

The hats and coolers are finished so if you want to buy a hat and cooler be at the Surfair Beach Hotel from 4:30-6pm this Friday to purchase one.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors that have dug deep into their pockets to support the club this year. It’s been overwhelming the amount of people that have helped out this year, from general club days to the Sunny Coast Cup, the support of local businesses and the local division 8 Councillor Jason Opray. Kind Regards
Crys-kai Carroll
